The Oryx Nova glossary defines the vocabulary of made-to-measure device protection as this site uses it: the cutting station, the cloud device library, cutting on demand, the protective film finishes and tiers, the re-cut and the distributor. Each entry ends with the other names the market uses for the same thing.

- Made-to-measure device protection
- Made-to-measure device protection is protective film cut to the exact outline of one specific device, at the point of sale, at the moment a customer asks for it, instead of a pre-cut protector stocked per model. It is the category Oryx Nova is a registered brand of.

- Cutting station
- A cutting station is a counter-top machine that loads a device outline from the cloud device library and cuts a sheet of protective film along it with a blade. Oryx Nova sells four: Machine Ultra, Machine Ultra AI, Machine Ultra AI Limited Edition and Machine Pro. Every station cuts protection for every screen up to 18-inch laptop screens.

- Cloud device library
- The cloud device library is the online catalogue of device outlines (dimensions, corner radii, notches, camera cutouts) that every Oryx Nova station cuts from. New models are added as they launch, so a station needs no physical templates. Every model in the library can be cut, and a device that is not in it is cut from manual dimensions.

- Cutting on demand
- Cutting on demand is cutting a piece of protective film only when a device is in front of the station. It replaces pre-cut inventory: no piece per model is stocked in advance, and no sale is lost to a missing size.

- Protective film
- Protective film is the flexible sheet an Oryx Nova station cuts, sold by finish (clear, matte, privacy, anti-reflective, anti-blue-light) and by surface (screen, back and body, tablet, laptop). Oryx Nova sells protective film only: no tempered glass and no vehicle paint protection film (PPF).

- Film material (TPU, TPH, EPU)
- Oryx Nova films are TPU, TPH and EPU films: the flexible protective films that shops sell as "hydrogel film". Every Oryx Nova film, whatever its material, is cut at the station to the outline of the device.

- Clear film
- Clear film is a protective film with a transparent finish that leaves the picture and the reflections of the bare screen unchanged.

- Matte film
- Matte film is a protective film whose surface diffuses reflections and resists fingerprints, with a paper-like glide; the picture underneath is unchanged.

- Privacy film
- Privacy film is a protective film that darkens the screen when viewed from the side, so only the person in front reads it; head-on the screen stays clear.

- Anti-reflective film
- Anti-reflective film is a protective film that reduces the reflections on the screen without a matte finish. In the Oryx Nova range it belongs to the Signature tier.

- Anti-blue-light film
- Anti-blue-light film is a protective film that filters a portion of the blue light emitted by the screen while keeping the picture bright and clear.

- Back film (3D, leather-look, custom print)
- A back film is a protective film cut to the back and sides of a phone or foldable, around the camera island. 3D carries a textured relief, leather-look a leather grain, custom print a printable surface for a design.

- Tablet and laptop film
- Tablet and laptop film is clear protective film cut to the exact size of a tablet or laptop display, from the same cloud device library as the phone films.

- Tier (Signature, Premium, Standard, Basic)
- A tier is one of the four levels of the Oryx Nova film range, from Signature at the top to Basic at the entry. Every tier is cut to measure the same way, at the station, to the outline of the device.

- Re-cut
- A re-cut is a fresh piece of film cut for the same device when a fitted piece needs refreshing. It is how Oryx Nova coverage works; the terms apply by point of sale.

- Self-healing surface
- A self-healing surface is a film surface on which fine marks fade over time. It is listed as a feature on the Oryx Nova films that carry it.

- UV lamp
- The UV lamp is the Oryx Nova accessory that cures the film once it is applied at the counter, for an even, fully set finish. It completes a station; it does not cut.

- Checked piece by piece
- Checked piece by piece is the Oryx Nova quality method: raw material is tested before it is cut, and every cut piece and every part is checked individually, not by sample, before it ships.

- Oryx Nova specification and factory certificate
- The Oryx Nova specification is the set of criteria production runs against. The partner factory holds a certificate of compliance with that specification; the certificate attests the factory's compliance, not a certification of Oryx Nova itself.

- Distributor
- An Oryx Nova distributor is a company that buys Oryx Nova cutting stations, deploys them across the shops of a territory and resupplies the film they cut, earning on the stations placed and on recurring film. Territory is discussed per market.

- « La qualité, notre signature. » (Quality, our signature.) is the registered signature of the Oryx Nova brand, printed in French in every locale, part of the trademark identity together with the oryx mark and the wordmark.
